The only XC-12 ever built. Built by the Capelis Safety Airplane Company, it was registered as NX12762 on 12 Jan 1933, and first flew in the same year. It failed to attract commercial interest, and following a minor accident on 15 Apr 1938 the aircraft was permanently grounded, its registration cancelled in Aug 1938. It was acquired by RKO Studios and its unusual cockpit design was modified to look more like a DC-3. The aircraft was then used as a prop in many movies, most notably in Five Came Back (1939) and The Flying Tigers (1942). It was eventually scrapped circa 1950.

The sleek Ao 192 V1 prototype in Finland in 1938, wearing aircraft type name [Der] Kurier on the nose. By this time it had a raised, braced tailplane, as fitted to the V2 prototype first. The photograph was presumably taken in September 1938 - an Ao 192 was then demonstrated in Stockholm along with Bü 133 Jungmeister OH-SEA. In the defence plans for the Netherlands East Indies, the Dornier Wal played an important role, scouting for the navy's submarines whilst operating from forward locations. The second aircraft is said to be D-40. By 1938, the Dornier Do 24 was entering service and D-39 and D-40 were both struck off charge in January 1939.
