This Harrier was w/o when a compressor blade detached on take-off and caused the engine to explode. After a forced emergency landing the pilot ejected through the flames. The aircraft was extensively damaged but has been rebuilt to display standard by the excellent Boscombe Down Aviation Collection at Old Sarum.

Built in 1948 the aircraft was operated at Boscombe Down by the Empire Test Pilot School and as a glider tug. It became G-BDCC fitted with a Lycoming engine and used as a tug at the gliding club at Husbands Bosworth until it was severely damaged in 1999. It is being rebuilt as part of the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection, an interesting museum which only opened in July 2012

Delivered to the Airforce in August 1985 the mid fuselage was later used to repair an F3, ZE251. This cockpit section was mounted on a rig at Boscombe Down and used for trials. It is now one of many nose sections at the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection, formed in 2012, a museum that is well worth a visit, Andover XS790 is behind and a BAC1-11 cockpit can be seen on the right.
