This 1989 built airframe replaced ill fated sistership PK-BRD which crashed in Wamena in April 2009. PK-BRE carried test registration G-5-139 and then flew for various canadian airlines such as Air Nova, Air Canada Regional and Jazz Air till around 2005 (always registered as C-GRNU). Delivered to Aviastar in early August 2009, wfu in 2015 and then broken up in 2019. Aviastar was founded in 2003 and ceased operations in 2022.

As of September 2025, Trigana Air uses two passenger B737 in Papua for flights connecting Jayapura-Wamena and Jayapura-Dekai. One is this 1992 built -500, while the 2nd airframe is a -300 registered PK-YRA. PK-YSC has carried many registrations: initially as SE-DNK with Linjeflyg (lsd to LOT), then sold to SAS (still as SE-DNK). Next stops were with British Midland, bmi Baby and TAG Aviation (UK) as G-BVKD before it became N457US with Aero North International. Kalstar Aviation did import it to Indonesia as PK-KSP in July 2013. Next operator was Expressair as PK-TZD and now finally Trigana Air.

Built in 1979 for the Soviet AF, this AN-26 was sold to Trast Aero in 2009, initally becoming ER-AUR but soon afterwards 4L-UCK. In 2010, the indonesian national logistics agency BULOG (for Badan Urusan LOGistics, responsible to secure food distribution during crisis) leased this airframe to run food from Sentani to the Baliem Valley. Trast Aero was founded in 2004 and was active till 2010, when its assets were taken over by Aquiline International based in Sharja (UAE). In 2014, 4L-UCK was converted to AN-26B and registered as EY-325. It was observed falling apart at Sentani airport in 2022.

Cardig Air was founded in 2004 and over the years has operated ten Boeing 737 aircraft: two -200, two -400 and six -300. One - PK-BBY - was damaged beyond economical repair (BER) in Wamena on August 28, 2015, all others have been retired or sold. The only exception is this 1985 airframe, which joined Cardig Air on February 13, 2012 and still soldiers on as of September 2025, having been re-registered to PK-DJS in July of 2020. Previous operatos were Piedmont, USAir, America West and TNT Airways, the latter being the 1st operator after it got converted to freighter in 2007 (registered OO-TNK).

Alda Air was founded in 2013 and received the indonesian DGCA Air Operations Certificate (AOC) in May 2015. It currently operates three Cessna 208B Grand Caravans, among them 2017 built PK-DLT which joined Alda Air in January 2018. The other two Caravans are PK-DLA (c/n 208B5006) and PK-DLY (c/n 208B5169). Being able to transport 9 passengers or some 1200 kg of freight, Grand Caravans are popular in Papua, despite being unable to serve many of the 400+ airstrips accross the vast countryside.

A-1318 lining up on Runway 15 in Wamena was the 2nd of five stretched new built C-130H-30's delivered to the TNI-AU in late 1980. The serials of that batch are A-1317 through A-1321 (became A-1341 in 1982). All five remain in service at the time of upload, with A-1318 being the only one of that batch keeping the original white/grey/yellow paint scheme. While other Indonesian AF Hercules have been rotated between SkU 31, 32 and 33, A-1318 has always been with Skadron Udara 31 based at Jakarta-Halim.

With Trigana Air since August 2014. See picture ID 841657 for the history of this airframe. Trigana Air dominates the hauling of airfreight from Sentani-Jayapura to the city of Wamena located in the Baliem Valley at an altitude of approx 5'500 ft / 1600 meters. In August of 2025, Trigana operated three B737 freighters to supply Wamena, the biggest city in the world only accessible by air and therefore completely depending on an air bridge. Each aircraft does 3 to 4 daily runs, each time carrying a load of some 15 metric tons.

PK-YSG joined the fleet of Trigana Air in August 2014, only some 3 month before this picture was taken. The 1988 built passenger airframe was operated by airlines like Piedmont (N357P & N585US), USAir and US Airways (both as N585US), before it got converted into a freighter for TNT Airways in August 2006 (registered OO-TNH). It briefly flew for Swiftair as EC-LTO from April 2012 before being sold to Trigana two years later. Still current at the time of upload, wearing the now more colorful latest Trigana livery, see next picture.

NAM Air (part of Sriwijaya Air) started as low-cost carrier in December 2013. At its peak, NAM Air operated eleven Boeing 737-500's, but is now down to just three at the time of upload. Since August 2025, mother company Sriwijaya Air offers direct flights from Makassar (Sulawesi) to Wamena (Papua), with a fuel stop in Timika on the way back. The new and revolutionary flight connection is contracted to NAM Air and 1994 built PK-NAS is seen here on one of it's first such flight. Initally flew for Continental and United as N19621, then as PK-CLO for Sriwijaya Air (between 2012 and 2016).

This 1997 built B737-300 first flew as N653SW for Southwest Airlines, who fitted it with the winglets in October 2009. Phased out by Southwest by the end of April 2017, bought by Rostrum Aviation in 2018 and in due course converted to a freighter. Leased to indonesian operator Tri-MG Airlines as from February 2021. Tri-MG was bought by Asia Cargo Airlines in August of 2021, and PK-MGZ was subsequently operated in the latter's paint scheme till it was returned to Rostrum in November 2024. Registered N653RL but stored at the time of upload.

Associated Mission Aviation (AMA) is a missionary airline operating under the support of the Catholic Church in Papua. As of the time of upload, they operate a fleet of Cessna 208 Caravan family and the Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter. Seen here is one of their Cessna 208 sitting at their Wamena base.

Besides the Cessna 208 Caravan, AMA also possess several unit of Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter. This handy machine is used a lot to fly to remote airstrips within the interior of Papua, especially the ones that are not able to be served by bigger airplanes such as the Caravan.

Till 2003, this 1989 built airframe flew for Condor and Lufthansa as D-ABWF. Sold to chinese carrier Yangtze River Express as B-5055 which operated it as freighter till the end of 2016. Next stop was with congolese airline "Serve Air" (registered 9Q-DHJ and 9S-AHJ) before Trigana Air Service bought it in late 2021. The aircraft has no fixed base and for technical and operational reasons is being moved back and forth between Trigana's western (Java) and eastern (Papua) area of operation.

After a long career all over the world (refer to Photo ID 656384 for details), this 1986 built airframe ended up in Indonesia in late 2012. Since then, it's hauling cargo almost daily from the coastal city of Jayapura-Sentani to Wamena (Papua Province). It's first indonesian "stop" was Trigana Air (as PK-YSE) till April 2015, before taken over by Cardig Air which operated it for four years till December 2019. PK-BBC then changed ownership once again, currently flying for Jayawijaya under registration PK-JRB (2.). I was luckly to catch this airframe in all three indonesian airlines liveries.
