The grand building in the background is Cootamundra West railway station which closed in 1983. Cootamundra had two busy stations and was a major rail junction at the height of the railways. It also was for a while the air terminus for planes from the UK, mail and passengers completing the journey to Melbourne and Sydney by train. The switch to flying boats moved the air terminus to Sydney.
Damaged in ground-loop on takeoff at a farming property at Bethong NSW in 1965 - the year after it had been cancelled from the register. Became a piece of playground equipment for children and fell derelict.
