Photographer: Al Rodriguez. K25 slide scan. Delivered 31 January 1960 as N8802E to Delta, the first 880 delivered to a customer. Traded in to Boeing 1973. Transexecutive Aviation N55NW 1974, leased to Bahamas World 1976, returned 1977. World Wide Air Leases 1978, converted to freighter without main deck cargo door. Groth Air 1979, reregistered N880SR. Impounded Mexico City, mysteriously burned down 11 May 1983. One of a small number of 880 freighters operating out of Miami in the late 1970's and certainly the one wearing the most extravagant livery.

This 880, ex N8802E with Delta, was destroyed in a fire in Mexico City in May, 1983.

Holding for 28L on a crisp, clear morning at CMH. TWA also had an 880 leaving at about the same time, and I captured on film a substantial number of both fleets from this spot.

This was Delta's second Convair 880 and it served them from 31 January 1960 until sold to Boeing in November 1973. It leaves the usual smoke trail on departure from Atlanta.
