The star treasure of the National Air Force Museum of Canada is their wonderful Halifax restoration, the only completely genuine remaining example in the world. It was recovered from Lake Mjøsa in Norway in 1995 having been shot down on 24th April 1945 while on a flight to resupply Norwegian resistance fighters.

Built by Rootes at Liverpool - Speke in March 1945. Ditched in Lake Mjosa Norway 24.4.45 when hit during a supply mission supporting Special Forces when operated by 644 Squadron RAF. Shown during restoration at Trenton with starboard inner Bristol Hercules just installed after overhaul.

Ditched in Lake Mjosa, Norway on 24.04.45 after being hit when supporting Special Forces. Shown in 2004 during painstaking restoration at CFB Trenton with focus on rear turret and fuselage.

This Halifax was based at RAF Tarrant Ruston during WWII for special ops missions. It took off on 24th April 1945 on a flight to resupply Norwegian resistance fighters. This drop was made successfully but she was hit by AA fire and forced to ditch into Lake Mjøsa. All crew members survived but their dingy did not inflate and they were forced to swim in the icy water to shore but, tragically, only the tail gunner made it to safety.

On April 24, 1945, RAF Halifax NA337 ditched in Lake Mjøsa, Norway after being hit by enemy flak. During the summer of 1995, the Halifax Aircraft Association and volunteers from Canada and Norway raised the bomber from the bottom of the lake. Over the next ten years the aircraft was completely restored. Unveiled at the National Air Force Museum of Canada in Trenton Ont. in November 2005, it is the only complete Handley Page Halifax on display.

The last of 661 Fairey-built Halifaxes makes its maiden flight at Ringway. Delivered on 17 October to 48 MU. Served at RAF Pershore and with the Middle East Air Force. Scrapped in early 1949. Obtained from Faireys over 50 years ago.
