Originally a UH-1F, this Huey was converted to UH-1P gunship for the USAF's 20th Special Operations Squadron 'Green Hornets' in Vietnam. Sister ship 65-7925, which is in a museum, underwent the conversion to UH-1P in June 1969 and was shipped back to the US in November 1970. Before and after their dangerous tour of duty, these helicopters had more sedate jobs at various USAF bases. No longer toting guns and rocket pods, 65-7927 is seen over Japan where it was assigned to the 475th Air Base Wing. Photo by: Curtis Eddings / National Archives at College Park, Maryland
