Having begun life as N5044 of American Airlines, this airframe ended its days back in the USA when it was broken up by Northrop Grumman as N164W at Baltimore in 2019 after use as a testbed

Over forty years later, on 06/MAY/19, this particular aircraft had the honour to perform the last ever flight of a BAC 1-11 as a Westinghouse test bed, registered N164W, on a flight from and to Baltimore MD.

Delivered to American Airlines as N5044 in 1966. To Dan-Air as G-AXCK in 1969 then to Westinghouse Electric Corp as N164W in 1983 and used as a radar test aircraft, To Northrop Grumman Systems Corp in 1996. Still operational in 2018.

This 1-11 began life as American's N5044 in 12.66, joining Dan-Air in 3.69. Bought by Westinghouse in 2.83 and becoming N164W, she was modified with a long nose and served as an airborne testbed for B-1B avionics. Went on to Northrop Grumman in 3.96 and flew until 2017 with an additional large pod on the port front fuselage
