This Hind was commissioned in to the Czechoslovak AF in August 1978 although its date of decommissioning appears to be unknown. It is now part of the small but very interesting collection at the airfield. I photographed this one before but am much happier with this shot.

The Grasshoppers and the demo team flew from Eindhoven airport (Netherlands Air Force open day) to the Koksijde airshow in Belgium together in all kinds of formations. Aircrew was mixed in all types, a mechanic from the Grasshoppers in front of a Hind a mechanic in the Hip and a Czechoslovakian pilot in the AlouetteIII.

After the separation of Czechoslovakia, this Mi-24D, operated by 51 VRP, went to the Czech AF. Since 2017, this helicopter is preserved in Nitra Janíkovce, in Slovakia!

This Hind's squadron, 221.vrl, is a member of the NATO Tiger Association.

Built in May-1978 and delivered to the Czechoslovak AF as 4011. After the split-up of Czechoslovakia in Jan-1993 it became part of the Czech AF. By May-2007 it was seen withdrawn from use at Prerov, by Aug-2012 it was seen as a gateguard at an army camp at Stará Boleslav, last seen there in Mar-2014. From there it became preserved at Nitra in Slovakia by Aug-2015 with the fake serial 2811, by Jul-2018 corrected to its real serial 4011 again.

This Hind is now one among a very nice small collection of preserved aircraft at Nitra - Janíkovc. I presume the colour scheme is fake but there is a Czech roundel (just visible) forward of the serial on the rear fuselage. Unfortunately, a rather inconveniently parked car prevented a more side-on shot.
