In early 1940, deliveries of the EP-106 started via Norway. Eventually, only half of the 120 Ep-106 ordered were delivered as the USA halted export to some countries. The aircraft were designated J9 and used for fighter and reconnaissance duties. Serial 2134 was taken on strength in July 1940, it moved to F3 at Malmen in 1948 and was retired from service in 1949 and added to the historical collection.

This J 9 flew with F 8 at Barkaby in Stockholm in 1940. Three years after the end of WWII it was transferred to F 3 Malmen and used as a reconnaissance aircraft. After one year it was decomissioned and earmarked for preservation.

Originally delivered to the USAF as SA-16A serial 52-134 and transferred to the USCG as a UF-1G serial 2134. Redesignated to a HU-16E in 1962. at Some point retired and stored at Mojave. Put on the US civil register as N4470W on 09 Dec 1983. Later moved to Lakeport/Kelseyville, CA. Registration cancelled on 01 May 2013.

Taken before full restoration and repainting

The EP-106 was an export version of the Seversky P-35 fighter. 60 machines were delivered to Sweden in 1940. This one was later fitted out as a photo reconnaissance aircraft as you can see.
