Parked on the ramp at Fairbanks and being prepared for flight later in the day. Retardant drop tank now removed, so no longer an airtanker.

Stored with no engines, this aircraft was formerly with Aero Union as N62297 #14.

Built as C-54E 44-9144 that was transferred to the US Navy as 90414. Also used by the Marine Corps, the aircraft was stored in Arizona in 1975. Sold surplus in 1975, Carl Millard brought it to Canada as C-GQIB in 1978. Stored after Millardair ceased flying, it returned to the USA in 1990 and is current with the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation as N500EJ since 1994.

Delivered as C-54E-15-DO, 44-9145, to USN as R5D-4R, then to USMC. Seen here waiting for me to finish shooting before taxiing. Lost during landing near Bronson Creek, BC, in February of 1997.

Delivered new to US Navy as R5D-4 90414 in May 1945. Retired in 1973. From December 1994 operated as a memorial to the Berlin Airlift which used many Skymasters.

This airplane always attracts a crowd at airshows. Oshkosh 1995 was no exception.
