Touch-down for the last time ever of the last VC-10 built, for preservation by the Brooklands Museum. Never would have dreamt I'd be taking this shot 36 years later when I took my photo of her as 5H-MOG in 1977!

Seen here arriving from Accra in a revision of her original colours, this VC-10 was the first of two accepted by Ghana on 27.1.65. Free demonstration flights were given to locals, many of whom had never been on a plane before. The VC-10 had a profound effect on the nation's culture and even had a type of dress named after it. Powering away for a go-around before making her last ever landing

Seen at the RAE Bedford this is the former G-ATDJ of British United Airways. It was used by the RAF for research and it was never easy to get close to these aircraft.

Taken from then new international terminal. The cluster of hangars in background was best spot for aviation photographers into the 1970s. Accessible and no fences. It was declared off-limits by the mid 1970s amid greatly increased airport security. But then the area had lost its appeal as less traffic passed when the east-west runway ceased to be the main runway.

This aircraft went on to become ZA150 of the Royal Air Force. It is seen at the BOAC maintenance area.
