The Indonesian Air Force operated 40 Swiss built Bravos elementary trainers between 1982 and 2015. They were based at the TNI-AU's main flight training facility in Yogjakarta. The abbreviation LM stands for "Latih Mukla" and means elementary trainer. The Bravos, as well as the advanced T-34C's trainers, were replaced by a single type, the Grob 120TP.

This 2004 built Ruslan was supposed to go to GATS Guinea as UR-CCX but was never taken up. It went to Abu Dhabi based Maximus Air Crago instead, where it is the only AN124 operated among an IL-76 and a L-100-30 Hercules. At one time, the company also had an Airbus A300-600 freighter in its fleet.

After B737 cargo planes were allowed to serve Wamena airport as from 2010, the Indonesian DGCA also cleared passenger 737's to land there in early 2014. Around 2018 however, the risk of 737 pax flights was re-evaluated and deemed to be too high, and consequently stopped, even though no incident happened with a pax 737. Reason's given were the relatively short runway length combined with Wamena's altitude of 5500 ft. In turn, the ATR-72 became the standard pax airplane again serving WMX. Note the kids on the other side of the runway, well within the airport premises....

Before joining the Kulula.com fleet in January of 2010, this 2000 built airframe had flown with Turkish airline SunExpress as TC-SUA, then with Spanish operator Futura as EC-IUC and finally with US operator Ryan International Airlines as EI-DND. It briefly was registered in the Czech Republic as OK-PIK (with leasing company GECAS). It joined Comair in August of 2015 and now wears the full "British Airways" livery, which is not as funny as when it was captured here during approach into JNB.

Built in 1993, first registered to Bavaro Sunflight in the Dominican Republic as HI-642CT, then to Africair as N6236G in November of 1997 and right away sold to AirKenya in December 1997, which leased the aircraft to the Save The Children relief organisation. It was reported as ET-ANF in November 2009 but seems to be back in Kenya as 5Y-BMZ at the time of upload. Switzerland, as one of the richest countries, has been very moderate in acquiring luxury jets to carry its ministers and officials around. For some time in the early 1990's, it operated two old Lear Jets 35 before upgrading to this 1981 built Falcon 50 in January of 1996. The jet was bought from Geneva based private firm Aeroleasing S.A. and had previously been operated as HB-IEP and N76FJ. It left the Swiss AF fleet in October 2013 and was registered N260ER with Moro Aircraft Leasing Inc.

This 1964 built C-130E was hastily delivered to Israel 2nd hand during the Yom Kippur war in October of 1973. It previously served with the USAF's Military Airlift Command as 63-7844. It was pictured here at the - now closed - air base Lod, back then part of Tel Aviv's international Ben Gurion airport. All of Israel's military transport planes, namely the C-130 and B707 fleet did relocate to Nevatim AB near Beersheba around August of 2008, just a few weeks after this picture was taken. Being an old E version, this airframe has most likely be stored by now.

Delivered new to Bearskin Airlines as C-GGVX in September of 1975, later with Air-Dale, also in Canada. Was registered in Germany as D-ISKY with different owners between April 1995 and December 2002, before joining Trigana Air that month and year. Trigana Air operated - and still does - many Twin Otters into jungle airstrips in Papua, and due to the demanding flying conditions had a fair number of incidents unfortunately.

This 1982 built UH-60 carried the US FY # 81-23588 and was phased out of it's military service in 2015, when Unical Defense Inc laid hands on it and registered it as N160AQ. It was seen at the Heli-Expo 2017 in an attractive black-white "whale" like paint. Later sold to it's current owner SDGE and operated in the FAA "restricted" category.

The TNI-AU started to operate Flankers in August of 2003 and has so far purchased sixteen aircraft of four different versions. That's far from the original ambitious plan to eventually operate 180 SU-27/30's among 10 squadrons. Currently, two SU-27SK (serialled TS-2701 & -2702), three SU-27SKM (TS-2703 through 2705), two SU-30MK (TS-3001 and TS-3002, pictured here) plus nine SU-30MK2 (TS-3003 through TS-3011) are based at Sultan Hasanuddin AB, South Sulawesi and operated by Skadron Udara 11.

In 2019, the Swiss AF evaluated a new fighter to replace it's ageing F-5's & F-18's. Lockheed-Martin had the USAF send four F-35's from Hill AFB, Utah to Payerne AFB. As part of the evaluation, each aircraft type had to land at Meiringen AFB in the Bernese Oberland. 13-5081 from the 34th Fighter Squadron "Rude Rams" had the privilege to carry out this historic landing, which might very well be the first and last F-35 ever to be seen in Meiringen. Note the swiss cows not bothering at all, as they are used to jet noise. Or did they simple not see the stealth aircraft coming?

For the next 15 years, Heli-West AG did operate this helicopter with different partners, such as Airport Helicopter located at Beromünster (where this picture was taken) and Mountain Flyers 80 Ltd in Bern. N281SD was built in 1980 and has seen service with Heliservicio in Mexico as XA-SZD till early 1996. It continued with Air Logistics as N24HS, just to be registered in Mexico again as XA-AAC sometimes later. Became C-FTXU with Eagle Copters Maintenance in March 2004 and from November 2005 started to serve with it's current operator SDFD as N800DM. It appears to have been re-registered to N281SD on January 14, 2020, just a few days before very friendly staff at this SDFD Air Operations base did let me take a picture of this beautiful bird.

CHAIR Airlines was formed in June of 2019 out of Germania Flug (Switzerland). The name of the airline is a pun, as CH is the latin abbreviation for Confoederatio Helvetica (meaning the Switzerland) and at the same time it reads "chair", the piece of furniture every household has. In regard to this, the company states: "A company needs a strong foundation. A chair has stable legs‚ a load-bearing seat‚ and a strong backrest to support you - and as an airline‚ we offer you a place to sit back‚ dream‚ and fly away."

Air Canada operates a total of sixteen A330-300 Series, among them C-GFAJ (YOM 1999) captured here on approach to Geneva in front of the snow covered Jura mountain ridge. What a positive difference this blueish basic color makes versus an all white airframe. Stored since August 2020 due to the Covid-19 situation.
