This Harvard in the Fleet Air Arm Museum is used in a diorama illustrating the work done by women during WWII, a process that had really started in WWI

This ex USAAF AT-6C had previously served Air France in a training role - hence the colour scheme. It later became F-AZHE and F-AZZM.

Built to an RAF order and allocated the serial EX423, also USAAF serial 41-33396 for administrative purposes. Shipped directly to New Zealand in Feb '43 and became NZ1024. Sold 1 May '78 to Joe Drage for his museum at Wodonga, arriving Oct. Moved to new premises at Wangaratta Jan '85. Acquired from the Airworld collection '90 by Doug Hamilton for restoration at Albury and registered VH-XNZ 27 Feb '91. Seen here just airborne at the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's National Fly-in.

Displayed for many years in the open at MOTAT, NZ944 has since been restored and suspended from the roof in the museum's aviation hall.

Despite the markings, this aircraft went from the USAAC to the RAF to the RNZAF, not the US Navy. The painted serial is a corruption of its USAAC serial 41-33157

VH-CRC is an ex Royal New Zealand Air Force which operated it as NZ1023 from World War II. The markings in the picture are not those it wore at any time in its military career. It is not clear if the markings are based on a aircraft. The large code "23" is a relic of its New Zealand service.

This aircraft was originally 41-33606. It later went to the RAF (UK) as EX633 then to South Africa as 7349, then back to the RAF as EX633, then to the Belgian Airforce as H-29. It later became F-BJBI, F-WJBI, then F-AZHE and F-AZZM.
