Although not visible in this picture, the two-seat Viggen has a unique tandem cockpit with periscope for a better view from the back seat. A relatively small number of two-seaters was built and this example is one of few that has been preserved. Its cockpit is covered here to protect the glass from colouring by the elements. The Götaverken GV-38 was based on the Rearwin 9000L Sportster, alhtough it was not an exact copy. The wing spars and fuselage stringers were strengthened. The steel tubes of the fuselage frame were dimensionally larger than on the original aircraft. The lower section of the rudder was increased in order to improve the spin characteristics. Only 14 of these aircraft were built in Sweden and this one survives in the excellent Flyg- och Lottamuseum in Optand.
