The Found Brothers built five Centennial 100 aircraft to commemorate Canada's Centennial in 1967. This one is likely the only one still flying. Seen being launched into the Fraser River

Corilair Charters Beaver returning to Campbell River at the end of another charter flight.

This Beaver was exported to New Zealand and is now registered as ZK-AMA

Seen at the dock on the Thompson River, this Rebel was in need of paint work and hopefully by now that has been done. Almost looks transparent.

C-GMIC is being taken across the road for the night. This Beaver spent many years with numerous operators on the West Coast before crashing in 2007 due to fuel starvation. It was salvaged and rebuilt and is now registered as N791PW and operating in Alaska

This Electra was destroyed whilst conducting fire retardant drops near Cranbrook,British Columbia. The two pilots did not survive the crash which started a wildfire when it exploded upon crashing. The date of the crash was 16 July 2003, less than a month after I photographed it.

C-FLYL and C-FLYK at Sproat Lake on a rainy day. I chartered a boat to take me out to see the two Mars up close. It was nice to get up close to them and circle around these huge aircraft. Both of the Mars are retired and its uncertain what their fate will be. Hopefully they will be preserved somewhere.

This Neptune was formerly RCAF 24113 and was purchased by The Flying Fireman of Victoria and converted to air tanker with a 3,000 gallon retardant tank. In 1972 it was used on a trial basis by the British Columbia Forest service during fire season and the Neptune did well in that role. Transport Canada did not approve the modifications so the Neptune was sold and went to the United States and worked there as an air tanker until it crashed in 1975. Its remains and parts of another Neptune were used in a rebuild and it is now on display at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Arizona as N14448.

Pictured returning in smokey skies at sunset, this AS 350 has been fighting the Elephant Hill fire all day. The largest fire in British Columbia history, it burned an estimated 192,000 hectares and took several months of hard work to bring under control.

Delivered to the Province of Ontario's Department of Lands and Forests December 1, 1967, this Turbo Beaver was with Air West / Air BC from 1979 - 1981. Sold to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, it was with the department from 1981 - 1993. The aircraft is current with Northern Adventures Ltd in Sioux Lookout , ON at the time of uploading.

This Beaver was rebuilt at Sealand at Campbell River and fitted with the Trace V8 Orenda engine of 600HP and a four blade composite reversing prop. Following certification in the US it then went to Val D'or Quebec for float certification. Possibly due to lack of interest in this conversion the program was dropped. The aircraft was de-registered and sold to a Canadian buyer. The engine was removed and it was transported back to Campbell River in a trailer. It remains un-registered. It will some day emerge as a Turbo Beaver, or perhaps will revert to its original R985 engine, but time will tell.
