The Swedish air force participated in the so called Winter War in Finland in the winter of 1939-1940. A special unit was formed (F19), operating aircraft painted in Finnish national markings. 287 did actually see service in Finland with code yellow H

On display at RAF Museum Hendon. This Gladiator was taken on charge in Aug. 1937. It served briefly at Boscombe Down in 1941 to test a pair of additional 0.303 in. guns fitted under the top wing. The aircraft was used as a trainer with No. 5 (P) Advanced Flying Unit in 1942. It was struck off charge in March 1948.

Built in 1938 and later transferred to 263 Sqn of the RAF, where it was given it's HE-G code. After the German invasion in April 1940, it was one of 18 aircraft that was transferred to Norway on the carrier HMS Glorious. The RAF parked their aircraft in the slush on the ice and disregarding advice from the local Norwegian liaison officer. The aircraft were unattended and they froze into the ice during the night. When the Heinkels arrived in the morning, they were sitting ducks and most of 263 Sqd was obliterated . It was dismantled and hidden in a shed during the war years. The restoration process began in 1980.
