The cropped wing 4B version of the Comet was produced for BEA as a response to the Caravelle, Olympic also bought it for their European routes

Previously operated by 51 Squadron based at RAF Wyton. Displayed at Strathallan until broken up when the collection was dispersed.

Initially built for RAF Transport Command as Comet C.4 XR399. Seen here at the National Museum of Flight, East Fortune in Scotland.

In use as a ground instructional airframe at No 1 School of Technical Training. Ex XK716 and it was scrapped in 1973. The fin was removed to keep a R2 Comet flying.

To Dan Air in September 1975 as G-BDIX

Dan-Air Comet G-APYD and British Airways Trident G-AWZM hidden away in a very cramped storage hangar of the Science Museum at Wroughton. Both aircraft were complete and in excellent condition. This Comet was first delivered in May 1960 (to Olympic as SX-DAL) and withdrawn from use by Dan-Air on 23 Oct 1979. A week later, on 1 Nov 1979, it was flown from London-Gatwick to Wroughton on delivery to the museum.

This rare squared-window Comet was delivered to Air France in June 1953, but withdrawn very quickly, following the Comet disaster at Elba in Jan 1954. The aircraft became G-AOJT and ended up at RAE Farnborough for testing. Its fuselage survived, and after many years of cocooned storage, it was acquired by the museum in March 1985 and immediately trucked there, arriving on 20 Mar 1985. The Comet still carries its original Air France colours as F-BGNX. The all-silver cockpit section dates back to July 1999, when it was painted to resemble the all-silver Comet prototype G-5-1 for the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Comet's first flight.

Dan-Air augmented their fleet of Comet 4/4Bs by buying the RAF's five Comet 4Cs. G-BDIX previously served as XR399.

At RAF Cosford Aerospace Museum

Regd May 2nd 1957 to BOAC and first flew July 27nd 1958 at Hatfield. She made the first Atlantic crossing by passenger jet with fare-paying passengers on October 4th 1958.
