Ex Simmons Airlines and Trans Central Airlines before that. After some time in storage at TUS it went to Air Aruba in Aug 88 as P4-YSA. Reported withdrawn from use Mar 90.

Ex Simmons Airlines with whom it operated as American Eagle. After about 30 months of storage in TUS it went to Servicios Aereos Litoral Jul 89 as XA-ROL. On a personal note this aircraft was my one and only YS-11 ride in Dec 82, with PBA - Provincetown-Boston Airline. We met again at Marana AZ in 1990 when it was stored there as XA-ROL.

Manufactured by Nihon Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation (NAMC) in 1970, the first flight took place on 04/03/1970 as JQ2141, converted NAMC YS-11A-227. Delivered 05/1970 to Toa Airways, Japan, as JA8765. Re-rgd. 05/1977 to TDA - Toa Domestic Airlines and named 'Yashima'. Registered 04/1988 to JAS Japan Air System, still rgd. as JA8765. Registered 21/05/1992 as N992CL to TCA Limited, Makaha, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. Stored at Mojave 10/1992. Reg. canx. on 05/08/1993 as exported to Trinidad and Tobago. Delivered 08/1993 to Air Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago, as 9Y-TII. Withdrawn from use 2000.

In the livery of, and ex, Simmons Airlines. Still has small Republic Express (for whom they operated for) titles on the forward door. Originally Piedmont Airlines and Provincetown Boston Airlines. Between Aug 89 and Apr 91 it flew with Servicios Aereos Litoral as XA-ROV. Thereafter seen stored Greenwood MS.

Sold in the US in 1991. Became N4246K.

Leased from Mid Pacific Airlines Dec 84 and returned Sep 85, which coincides with the dates of operation for this short-lived airline based at FTW.

Delivered to Aerotransportes Litoral Argentino as LV-JIJ in 1968. Merged into Austral in 1971. To LAPA in 1979 then to Mid Pacific Airlines as N115MP in 1981. Withdrawn from use at Lafayette, IN in 1994 and scrapped in 1998.

I remember our surprise to find these here at Ft Lauderdale, a whole group of Airborne Express YS-11 taken out of service.

Taken out of service, remained there for years.
