This early serial number Sikorsky S-92A, msn 920022, was delivered new to CHC Helikopter Service AS as LN-OQD for offshore use in Norway. It was then registered to CHC Helicopters Canada as C-FBYI from August 2014 to July 2016 for offshore ops out of Halifax, NS. Returned to CHC in Norway as LN-OQD three months after the global grounding of the Airbus H225 following a CHC crash in Norway April 2016. Registered to CHC's Heli-One maintenance organization as C-GWVO on March 4, 2022 & at YVR by May 2022. Cannibalized for parts to support other CHC S-92As. Stored outside since at least April 2023.

N932PH pictured here on approach to PHI's base at Houma-Terrebonne, is one of at least 10 PHI S-92's based there in Mid March 2025. In total, PHI has operated close to 40 S-92's since the 1st production S-92 joined PHI's ranks in 2004, and about half remain as of March 2025. In November of 2006, PHI was the 1st S-92 operator to reach 10'000 hrs on the type, and had already logged 20'000 hrs by December of 2007. N932PH is a 2011 built airframe and joined PHI in March 2012.

Built in late 2007 and delivered new to PHI in January 2008, which flew it till August 2015, the month it was sold to Canadian Helicopters and registered C-GNZV. Back to PHI as N940P in June 2017 and then transferred to HNZ Australia in February 2018, becoming VH-IPZ. Still current there at the time of upload, albeit in a now white and red SAR paint scheme and equipped with a rescue hoist. Note: In 2007, registration N921PH had been briefly assigned to S-92A c/n 92.0067, which became N465VL in October 2007 and was initially operated by Evergreen Helicopters.

Built in 2004 and belongs to a mutual fund company which explains the registration and swanky royal blue and gold plated fittings in the entrance. It left its Hamilton/ON (CYHM) base two days ago and arrived this morning.

What can not be seen in this picture is the latest purpose of this helicopter: firefighting! During the VAI Verticon 2025 show, N850AR was presented with a 5000 Liter / 1320 US-Gallon watertank developped by australian company Helitak. VIH Helicopters, together with Milestone Aviation, is pioneering the use of former Oil&Gas S-92's in the firefighting role and received FAA certification for the expandable, belly-mounted tank in 2024. Thanks to the civilian certification of the S-92, the cabin can be used to transport firefighters, a privilege e.g. a civilized ex US Army UH-60 doesn't have.

This 2015 built S-92 is the second of four currently operated by ERA Helicopters and based at Houma. In October 2015, ERA started to operate the S-92, putting c/n 92.0271 in service as N92EH. The next three delivered, N524PB, N806AP and N145JW, are of the modified version S-92A "GWE". GWE stands for Gross Weight Expansion, increasing the MTOW from 26'500 to 27'700 lbs. As of March 2025, Sikorsky received orders for some 370 S-92's, including 23 VH-92 Patriots for the USMC and 28 CH-148 Cyclones for the Canadian Armed Forces.
