Former Soviet Army Aviation Mi-24P with manufacturer date 25 March 1986. Was sold to Ukraine Army Aviation 6 December 1991. Transferred as CH-637 to the Sri Lanka Air Force on 12 June 2001, assigned to 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron at Hingurakgoda. It made its last flight as such on 12 October 2007 with 1,466 flight hours in the logbooks and stored at its homebase. Although not operational anymore, reserialled to SAH-4413 by 2011. And it again received a new serial, SAH-637 by 2012. In the meantime moved to the Aircraft Engineering Wing at Katunayake, seen here in a less condition.

Most probably this is a former Sovvier Army Aviation Mi-24R. It carries a manufacturer date of 6 November 1986. It was moved to the Ukrain Army Aviation on 6 December 1991. Then sold to the Sri Lanka Air Force as CH-629 and assigned to 9 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron at Hingurakgoda. It was reserialled to SAH-4408 and it made its last flight as such on 30 MAy 2006. Another SUH-522 during an overhaul with the Aircraft Engineering Wing. Strikingly, seven black Bell 412s were seen during the 4Aviationb visit to Ratmalana, all seven carried the same serial, "SUH-522". There are six operational ones at the time of our visit, and serials involved are reportedly SUH-523 (c/n 33097), SUH-525 (33095), SUH-527 (36225), SUH-528 (36249), SUH-529 (36557) and SUH-530 (36558). The seventh one is this SUH-522, and is SUH-524 in real. They are all assigned to the 4 (VIP/VVIP) Helicopter Squadron "Anywhere, Anytime, Safely.

This is former Bell test registration N3202A. It was delivered as CH-548 to the Sri Lanka Air Force in 1985. It was written off in MAy 1986, it serial was reportedly cancelled on 18 August 1988. But... the SLAF decided to repair the helicopter and was rebuild. Assigned to 7 Helicopter Squadron from 1997, reserialled to SUH-4103 in 2010 and became SUH-548 by Mar 2012. Here is is seen during an overhaul by the SLAF Aircraft Engineering Wing. It's tail section was seen too, but it was not possible to get the tail and fuselage in one picture.

The helicopter once served within 63 flight of United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) as well as the multidimensional United Nations peacekeeping operation MINUSCA. With both mission it carried as UN registration UNO-316P. The helicopter was taken on charge as CH-596 by the SLAF on 4 December 1994. Became SMH-4302 by 2011 a fine dark green/dark brown camo colourscheme with a light grey underside. By 2014, likely after return from its UN duty, the Mi-171 became SMH-566.

This two twelve (ex Bell test registration N2134A) was delivered to the Sri Lanka Air Force as CH-535 in 1983 and reportedly as such written off during a brown-out landing in which it subsequently struck trees in September 1986. Apparently it was repaired, reserialled to CH-566 and assigned to SLAF No.7 Helicopter Squadron. Reserialled to SUH-4105 in 2010 and then again to this SUH-566 by March 2012.
