T9583 was built in Australia for the RAF in Singapore. Singapore fell to the Japanese before it could be delivered and it was delivered to the RAAF as A9-31. 100 Squadron RAF, which was the intended recipient, evolved into 100 Squadron RAAF and was deployed to Papua New Guinea. T9583 was lost in a crash landing at Port Moresby on June 25, 1942 when returning from a mission. The RAAF serial does appear to have been applied to the aircraft during its brief service. Static display only. This aircraft is privately owned and, being a former military training aircraft, is a warbird. It's painted in a Royal Australian Air Force scheme which was an operational livery though this aircraft may not have worn it in service. Many Winjeels operated in a silver livery with orange livery including this one at some point. Not visible in the photo is the RAAF serial A85-442 which is the true serial from it's time in service.

Displayed for over 40 years on a plinth in Tamworth's Hands of Fame Park. Taken down in 2011 and moved to the airport for restoration by students of a technical college. The plinth has been demolished. At the time of upload the Tamworth council was discussing a new site to display the restored aircraft.

This aircraft one of 14 built against an order from Switzerland that turned out to be an attempt to beat an arms embargo on Rhodesia (Zimbabawe). After six years in storage they were bought by the RAAF at a bargain price. In 1991, A19-065 returned to NZ as ZK-EUN, which had been its ferry registration in 1981. Mike Madden photo
