Initially in medium brown/olive drab/dark brown camo c/s in Jan'94 and appropriated operated by the Taliban Militia and later captured by the Northern Alliance at Bagram AFB (on a photo taken in Pakistan in 1998 with the roundel of the Northern Alliance). The 32 was seen at Kabul in Mar'02 without roundels and started to operate with the Afghan National Army - Air Corps (ANAAC) Fixed Wing. The ANA_AC was renamed the Afghan Air Force June'10. The aircraft was repainted in grey and eventually grounded in Nov'09. It was cannibalised for spares, last noted in Apr'10, fate unknown...

Some hour drive from Kabul, a real massive scrapyard of the Afghan Army was found. Only a few sandy paths were cleared from land mines and other booby traps. I was able to drive around this pile of debris, but it was impossible to leave the sandy path. This photo shows an An-32 nose section, and most probably wings of an An-2, but I couldn't reach these wrecks for a further inspection. This is almost certainly the nose section of Antonov 32 serial 338.

Some hour drive from Kabul, a real massive scrapyard of the Afghan Army was found. Only a few sandy paths were cleared from land mines, so I couldn't reach this wreckage for an inspection of the type and construction number. It is possible that the debris surrounding 338 did not belong to 338 itself.

Some hour drive from Kabul, a real massive scrapyard of the Afghan Army was found. Only a few sandy paths were cleared from land mines, so I couldn't reach these wreckages for further inspection. But a MiG-21 tail and a Mi-24/-35 nose section can be seen in this picture. The tail section of 206 in the background is that of an Ilyushin Il-14. On the right-hand side, on top of the hill, an Il-28 fuselage can be seen. What a mess...

Among them these two Mi-35s (113 and 64) that once served the Afghan air force. An Afghan HIPof the Afghan National Army - Air Corps. The helicopter was assigned to the 337 Regiment in the old structure of the air force. Unfortunately, the construction number was not found on this Mil Mi-8 so its history will most probably remain in silence as the helicopter was most probably scrapped late 2011.

Antonov 32 of the Fixed Wing of the then Afghan National Army - Air Corps. The 342 was delivered to the ANA-AC in April 1991 in a green/brown colour scheme. Late 2004 the aircraft was overhauled at Ivanovo-Severny (Russia) and redelivered to Afghanistan early 2005 in this boring overall grey colour scheme. The aircraft only continued operations for a few years as it was withdrawn from use in 2011. It was scrapped (unconfirmed) at Kabul in 2012.

This 278 is the second An-26 of the Afghan National Army - Air Corps carrying this serial. The first was construction number 13409, but this airframe was probably hijacked to Pakistan by followers of General Tanai after the failed coup attempt of 5 March '90. 13409 is now in a aviation museum in Karachi (Pakistan). This 278 with construction number 13902 of this picture was first seen in a camo jacket in March '02 in service ANA_AC. The An-26 became grey in 2006 and is withdrawn from use at Kabul in 2013.
