After independence sixty Indonesian cadets attended the TALOA Academy of Aeronautics in Oakland, CA for flight training on PT-13s. The academy was established in 1946 as a division of Transocean Air Lines (TALOA), and the contract with the Indonesian government was their first major training contract. This PT-13 was acquired by the museum to represent those flown in 1950-51 but was originally 42-17485 for the USAAF. Post-war it was used as a crop duster however in 1978 was written off near Olathe, KS, while buzzing low and colliding with trees.

The AURI received six PBY-5s in 1951, but this is not one of them. In fact it was delivered to the USN as BuNo 46539, bought by Charlotte Aircraft Corp in 1954 and registered N1563M. It was stored in the open at Elizabeth City, NC till 1985. Rebuilt to airworthy status in private hands by 1990 but not flown, it was instead shipped to the Central Museum of the Indonesian AF (in exchange for the right to recover several Japanese aircraft wrecks). Previously displayed as PB-505

Built as B-25J-15-NC 44-29032, this Mitchell went into service with 18 Sqdn Netherlands East Indies AF (ML-KNIL) in September 1944 as N5-239 flying missions against Japanese installations and shipping in the SW Pacific. From 1946 until Indonesian independence in 1949, the NEIAF flew combat operations against the Indonesians, the B-25s being used in strafing and bombing roles. After independence, they were turned over to the new Indonesian AF (AURI), this one becoming M-439. The original 8-gun nose was changed for glass and it was initially displayed in camouflage with correct serial.
