Simply called the Thruster, this is a single seat aircraft that was developed in Australia in 1984. Two seaters such as the TST, Gemini, T-300 and T-500 followed. It was also built in the UK with the British company eventually buying the rights to the design and undertaking further development. ZK-FHF was withdrawn from use in 2015. Bob Kerr photo

Six-passenger airline first flown from Cricklewood on 19 October 1926. It had Handley Page leading edge slots which are closed here. Displayed at an air pageant at Croydon already on 23 October. The three Lucifer engines gave bad vibrations. The sole Hamlet was then unsuccessfuly tested with two Lynx engines, and flown only once with three Mongoose engines. Scrapped in 1929. The S.34 trainer was used by the French air force from the early 1920s until 1936. Its side-by-side seating was then unusual. This example was owned by French ace Charles Nungesser who is seen with his girlfriend. The S.34bis was intended for the French navy and had a more powerful Clêrget rotary engine. The Vickers 253 was designed to meet an RAF requirement for a general purposes aircraft to replace the Wapiti. It won the contest and 150 were ordered. When Vickers demonstrated the Wellesley, which it had developed privately to the same specification, the RAF switched the order to the monoplane. K2771 was used as a engine test bed before being donated to the Air Training Corps with serial 2574M. Fate then unknown. Photo from: Air Force Museum of New Zealand

Not a drone, but a light single-seater derived from the BAC VII glider through the BAC Palette. These were designs of the British Aircraft Company in Maidstone, but Robert Kronfeld moved the firm to London Air Park, taking over British Klemm, and the Drone was produced there. Kronfeld was a Jewish Austrian who became a British citizen and an RAF Squadron Leader. William Forbes-Sempill flew G-ADJP from Croydon to Berlin in eleven hours in April 1936. The Ju 52s are D-ARAM Werner Voss, D-AGIQ Martin Zander and I-BIZI of Ala Littoria. Photo from: Museum of Flight
