This Chippie was built in 1950 for the RAF as a T.10, serial WB675. It was exported to Australia and became the second Chipmunk for the Royal Newcastle Aero Club to bear the registration VH-RNI on 19 December 1958. It was sold to the Royal Victorian Aero Club, becoming VH-RVH(3) on 4 October 1968. The RVAC sold it in early 1964 whereupon it became VH-AKB(3) on 24 January that year. It seems to have been withdrawn from use in 1969 and allocated the registration VH-ZAT in 1970. However, it is still flying as VH-AKB.

We are so used nowadays to seeing high-tech, ultra-performance, multi-bladed propellers that this wooden two-blade prop looks terribly inefficient for such a heavy aircraft.
