Bell manufactur date 26 August 1981. The Jet Ranger was delivered to the Sri Lanka Air Force as CH557. It was damaged on 26 February 1988 while its pilots were practicing auto runon, they experrienced severe vibrations and made a seious hard landing at Katunayake. Luckily, the JetRanger could be repaired. It was reserialled to SHT-1104 and by early 2012 to this SHT-557. Here it is seen at its homebase, getting some maintenance. The helicopter is assigned to No 7 Helicopter Squadron.

Assigned to No 7 Helicopter Squadron at Hingurakgoda. The 212 is receiving an overhaul before it returns to the sky. It is former Bell test registration N3189K and was most likely delivered to the Sri Lanka Air Force as CH-565 in 1985. It was reserialled to SUH-4102 around 2010 and again to the current SUH-565 by March 2012. On this left side of the helo, the SLAF titles at the cockpit door are written in local (Sinhalese or Tamil) language. On the right side, the text is in english.

Once Canadian registration C-GADQ. That registration was cancelled on 5 December 1990. This Bell 212 was shipped from Mirabel via Schiphol to Singapore in primer livery on 14 December 1990. After completion and painting it was delivered to the Sri Lanka Air Force with serial CH563 and was assigned to No 7 Helicopter Squadron. The helo was reserialled to SUH-4111 in 2010 time-frame and again reserialled to SUH-563 by March 2012. As such, the 212 is seen here getting an serious overhaul. The SLAF is able to execute such overhauls by their own.

This Mi-24P was new built and was rolled out on 24 Apr'85. It was delivered to the V-VS and then to Ukraine. To Sri Lanka as SAH-4416 on 9 Oct'01 and assigned to No.09 Attack Helicopter Squadron "Instantly, Surprise". The HIND was reserialled to SAH-636 by Mar'12. The Mi-24P made its last flight on 17 Nov'09, made a last ground run on 14 Jul'14 and was withdrawn from use with only 2002:43 logged flight hours. Possibly it will be made airworthy again in the future. But the attack role of the type is not necessary anymore in the current SLAF doctrine. Pictured during a superb 4Aviation tour.

This Mi-24P was new built and was rolled out on 28 May 1986. It was delivered to the V-VS and Ukraine. As one of six to Sri Lanka as SAH-4411 on 16 Jan'01 and assigned to No.09 Attack Helicopter Squadron "Instantly, Surprise". The HIND was reserialled to SAH-633 by Mar'12. The Mi-24P made its last flight on 17 Nov'09, made a last ground run on 21 Mar'13 and was withdrawn from use with only 1692:54 logged flight hours. Possibly it will be made airworthy again in the future. But the attack role of the type is not necessary anymore in the current SLAF doctrine. Pictured during a 4Aviation tour.

This Mi-35P was new built (line number 04-09) and was rolled out on 29 Jun'98. It was delivered as SAH-4404 to Sri Lanka on 17 Jul'98 and assigned to No.09 Attack Helicopter Squadron "Instantly, Surprise". The HIND was reserialled to SAH-623 by Mar'12. The attack helicopter made its last flight on 23 May 2014, made a last ground run on 28 May'14 and was withdrawn from use with only 1481:14 logged flight hours. This new built Mi-35V was rolled out on 24 Jun'98. It was delivered as SAH-4402 to Sri Lanka on 16 Jul'98 and assigned to No.09 Attack Helicopter Squadron "Instantly, Surprise". The HIND was reserialled to SAH-621 by Mar'12. The attack helicopter made its last flight on 30 Jan'14, made a last ground run on 5 Feb'14 and was withdrawn from use with only 1190:15 logged flight hours. Possibly it will be made airworthy again in the future. But the attack role of the type is not necessary anymore in the current SLAF doctrine. A long series of PI's: ZS-XCI, C9-SAM, ZS-XCC, F-WKVI, VT-ADQ, F-WQNE, F-GHNS, F-WQNJ, PH-XLS and F-OHJC

This jet was on tick over for a long while and took on fuel a few times while doing so. Word amongst the spotter fraternity , it was waiting for one VIP...Nobody know though who it was...
