The Luftwaffe received some 450 Thunderstreaks in cocooned condition, serving until 1964/67 with some going on to Greece and Turkey. This example served with JbG.36 at Rheine-Hopsten from 1961 until the unit re-equipped with F-104G Starfighters in 1965 and was ex-USAF 53-7058

Germany was the first export customer for the unmistakable Magister and took 62 from French production followed by 188 built under licence by Flugzeug Union Süd (Heinkel-Messerschmitt). A number found their way to Israel, Morocco and Belgium after service in Germany

This Dakota was rarely seen or photographed as it was tucked away inside the barracks on the far side of the field at Gatow. Originally delivered to the RAAF in Feb 1945 and flown over 11 days to Berlin to commemorate the Australian contribution to the Berlin airlift, arriving on 18 Jun 1980. Given the RAF serial ZD215 on arrival at Gütersloh after ferry flight from RAAF Butterworth (Malaysia) as until 1989 only British, French and American aircraft were guaranteed safe passage through the Berlin air corridor

All markings have been painted out on this helicopter, stored at North Weald.

Built in 1975 this aircraft was cancelled as destroyed in March 2006. The bent props indicate some sort of undercarriage collapse though the aircraft does not otherwise appear to be in bad condition

It was delightful to have the opportunity to shoot this superbly preserved VEB-built Il-14 in such nice conditions, well worth the 130km drive from Berlin. Once displayed in Interflug colours at the Halle ice stadium after being written off in a hard landing, it became derelict and was on the verge of being scrapped before being rescued by the Technik-Museum Hugo Junkers and restored in the colours of East Germany's Deutsche Lufthansa, the forerunner of Interflug
