Photographed crewing up during a 1 Squadron deployment in 1990, this particular Harrier T4A was written off in September the following year after suffering a birdstrike during a low level sortie near Great Driffield, Yorkshire. Both crewmembers, including a female UAS student, ejected although the student was badly burned when her parachute landed amidst the burning wreckage of the aircraft. Sitting on the 228 OCU flightline on a cold November in 1990. Sharp-eyed viewers will notice that the aircraft is also coded "A" on the nosewheel door. There was a good reason for this as the port side was actually painted in 29 Squadron markings for a photo-shoot with a 29 Squadron Tornado F3 and a British Aerospace-operated Lightning, also painted in 29 Squadron markings.
