Photo taken in occasion of a visit of the Chief of Naval Staff at 30° Stormo, being his badge visible on the side window of the cockpit (yellow trimmed 4 stars flag). 30° Stormo operated the Breguet Atlantic that had mixed crews from Italian Air Force and Navy, because it was in charge to the Air Force for management, training, operations and maintenance but under the Navy responsibility for missions. So the reason of his visit.

In the '80s a new MM/APS-705 omnidirectional radar was retrofitted and installed below the center fuselage, being the new radar system common to the AB-212ASW. Since Vergiate was home of the Agusta plant that had the license for these Sikorsky models, this displayed helicopter could have been a just overhauled and newly retrofitted machine.
