VH-FJC was first registered in Australia in March 1974. The photo was taken after it returned from a year (1976-77) on the Papua New Guinea register as P2-FJC. VH-FJC was withdrawn from use in 1997.

VH-FCA flew with the Ansett group from December 1975 until sold in the US as N280MA in December 1988.

VH-EOX was reregistered VH-NLX in December 1996.

This DC-10 was operated by UTA under a US registration from January 1974 to October 1983, when it became F-BTDE.

VH-CNW had just been registered in Australia when it was photographed at Sydney Airport . It was re=registered VH-CBI in August 2000.

Nob Air was based at Essendon (YMEN). Aircraft sold in Vanuatu as YJ-007 in 2013.

Exported to the US 1991, it returned to Australia as VH-AJG in 2003.

Mexicana's XA-NAT was stored at MEX from Dec 1970 and became N777WA in May 1973, but this was never painted on the aircraft. Bought by Redmond Air in Nov 1979 (along with N888WA now preserved at Everett, and N999WA, scrapped at Chicago) with the intention of forming a club to fly gamblers to Las Vegas. This one remained derelict at the airport right through the 1980s (note the Dan-Air wing tank). It was moved to Irapuato Zoo where it clung onto life in an increasingly poor state until scrapped in March 2015. Sad to think of such a rare and iconic aircraft succumbing to the breakers so recently, some 55 years after first entering service.

Good to see this classic transport still active at this time, with just a year left in service with AFRes/302TAW. Retired to MASDC, Davis Monthan 22.7.81 and now displayed at 82nd Airborne Division Memorial, Fort Bragg, NC

This was the last FH-227 built, rolled out in 12.68 by Fairchild Hiller as N2783R and sold to Mexico (Unidad de Transporte Aereo del Poder Ejecutivo Federal) in 12.72. To Mexican Navy as MT(T)-216 12.93 and stored from 1995. Some records incorrectly attribute TP-204/XC-DOU to Fairchild F27 c/n 90

St. Thomas was notorious among pilots for its short (then 4,658 ft) runway; the B727 was the heaviest type authorised to use it, and even then only in one direction. After the fatal crash of an AA 727 there in 4.76, the airline suspended jet service to the island and introduced Convairliners. This 440 was originally Garuda's PK-GCT in 1.58 and was b/u at Carlsbad in 1993. My arrival at STT was by Eastern - 727.... but I left on a Dak!

This former TWA bird joined Global in 7.78 named 'Cricket 1' flying with them till sold to Race Aviation in 3.85, becoming N345FA. Later registered N234FA, CC-CUE, TC-GHA (also used on 707 c/n 19869), PP-AJP, P4-YYY and 9G-FIA. Scrapped at Sharjah in 1.06 (was still in basic Global c/s)

The USCG operated 40 HH-3 Pelicans between 1968 and 1994. This one, at the time based at Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen on Puerto Rico, was withdrawn and placed in store at AMARC in 1993
