"Scepter" was originally Eastern's N8612. Other regns include S9-NAN.

This DC-10 was sold to FedEx the following year and converted to (F).

N4617U passed through Griffith on its delivery flight. It would become VH-IBI.

VH-CPD was on an epic trans-Australia journey when it dropped in at Griffith for fuel. In 2002 it was transferred to the Recreational Aircraft register as 19-3702.

As seen from the Queens Building, this aircraft is touching down on runway 28L. This is one of the two VC10s that I flew in. The old BOAC advert for the VC10 was 'Love at first flight.' It certainly was for me. Taken with a borrowed 400mm lens which weighed about the same as a brick, rather like the Bigma I use today actually !

Arrived at Upper Heyford on 9 May 1979 along with 55-0107 and 56-0659 and left on 23 May 1979. From the 96th BW at Dyess AFB, TX and participating in Exercises Flintlock and Dawn Patrol. While serving in Vietnam with the 43rd BW, this one was adorned with a huge sharkmouth and was involved in the 'Linebacker II' campaign of 1972. It is a survivor, now nicely preserved with the Yankee Air Museum at Willow Run near Detroit in the polyurethane finish first introduced in 1970 for better weather resilience in South East Asia
