The third of four prototypes of a fighter developed to specification E.1/44. The first was wrecked during transport to Boscombe Down. The second suffered poor handing and the third was fitted with a revised fin and tailplane. It still failed to impress the RAF and the fourth aircraft was not completed. Originally 43-17147 with the United States Army Air Force and delivered in August 1944, the aircraft eventually went to China Airlines as B-1805 after many owners. It was WFU in 1974.

Three CMA C-39's are in the background. The C-39 had the DC-2's slab-sided fuselage and nose lights, combined with the DC-3's larger fin. XA-DOQ (right) was built in July 1939 for the USAAC as 38-520. Sold to CMA in November 1944. Crashed in Mexico on 27 November 1951. From CMA 60 years ago.

Swissair's first Convair 240 soon after delivery to Zurich and wearing the initial all-metallic scheme. Soon named "Graubunden". Sold to Mohawk in January 1957 as N1013C. From Swissair 60 years ago.

Built in December 1944 as C-54B 42-72363 for the USAAF. Converted in June 1946 to DC-4 standard. Served CMA June 1946 until sale to SAM Colombia as HK-558 in 1968.
