One of ten or so Senior Skyrockets built by the mother company - a dozen more were manufactured in Canada after the war. Assumed photographed when new, the aircraft wears an unidentified logo which seems to depict a torch. During the war, NC15300 assisted the US Army Corps of Engineers in constructing the Canol pipeline to Alaska. It formally became N15300 in April 1948, but the reg was cancelled one month later.

'Ambulance plane. Kautokeino 1940.' Widerøe's Bellanca was leased by the Norwegian army in February 1940 and damaged beyond repair on 28 March. The large building was a boarding school in this remote town. The location is probably not the (later) airstrip (ENKA). Photo by: Elisabeth Meyer / Norsk Folkemuseum

Seen here still in original configuration as a 31-55A Senior Skyrocket, shortly before it was severely damaged in a hail storm in August 1947. It was repaired and converted to 31-55B (fuselage extension and larger cabin door) in April 1948. The aircraft was later acquired by the Reynolds-Alberta Museum, becoming the sole surviving Bellanca Senior Skyrocket. Photo from: Library and Archives Canada

Started out as a 31-55A Senior Skyrocket c/n 3 in 1946, and seen here as such. In October 1955 it was upgraded to a 31-55B (fuselage extension and larger cabin door) by giving it the fuselage of c/n 32, thus essentially becoming another airframe. The aircraft was sold in the US in 1972 as N32BE. Note the "Fort William" subtitles. In January 1970 the cities of Fort William and Port Arthur merged and became the city of Thunder Bay. This is where Superior Airways was based from its creation in 1945 until it was merged into Austin Airways on 1 Jan 1982. In 2003 a new Superior Airways was formed, with no ties to the old one.
