Once production had started, it was decided that the Hotspur was too small to be used in operations. Instead, due to the good handling characteristics, it became the main training glider for the Army and over 1,000 were produced, mainly by furniture manufacturers. This exhibit is a composite replica containing the original rear fuselage of HH379.

The front fuselage section of replica eight-seat General Aircraft GAL-48 Hotspur II training glider. This 1940-designed type was much used throughout the war to train pilots and crews for the airborne landings to come, which used larger gliders. No Hotspurs survived and this replica is painted in accurate markings of the period and is fully fitted out internally.
