Delivered new to Delta Air Lines as N9900 on 11 Nov 1971. Returned to Boeing on 16 Apr 1977 and converted to a freighter. To Flying Tigers as N805FT on 15 Aug 1977. Merged into Federal Express and reregistered to N625FE on 07 Aug 1989. To Air Hong Kong as VR-HKC on 04 May 1993. To Kalitta-American Airways as N625PL on 01 Mar 1994. Reregistered to N709CK on 30 Jun 1998. Noted with Kitty Hawk on 03 Feb 1999. Noted back with Kalitta on 11 Dec 2000. Noted stored at OSC on 18 Aug 2010. Broken up in 2015.

In June '94 to Kalitta American International. Re-registered N709CK in June '98. Broken up at Oscoda in June 2015.

This was a very unusual visitor to Prestwick,it turned up doing a flight for MK Cargo Airlines and is seen here taxiing to stand 7 at the Cargo Terminal.

This photo was taken from the Spectators Terrace .There was only 30 seconds of sun during the entire afternoon and fortunately I caught it on the kalitta 747,the aircraft looks like it is in a spotlight as the foreground and background are in shadow.

Just six weeks earlier, this old cargo Jumbo literally lost its No 1 engine over Lake Michigan, which reminds us of the 1992 crash of El Al's 4X-AXG into an apartment block in Amsterdam.

Delivered new to Delta as N9900 in 1971. FT bought in 1977 and converted to (F). Later regns include N625FE, VR-HKC and N709KC.

Jumbos were never widely used by Delta until much more recently as a result of the Northwest takeover, but they could be seen on Heathrow schedules for a short period back in the Seventies. And they will have the distinction of being the last US airline to operate them on passenger services. N9900, seen here taking off from runway 10R in September 1974, was a 1971-build Srs 100 converted to a freighter in 1977. Went to Flying Tigers as N805FT being taken over by FedEx as N625FE; ended up as Kalitta's N709CK and and scrapped at Oscoda, MI (the old Wurtsmith AFB) in 2015
