Part of the first batch of Argus to arrive in the UK. The Air Ministry was unaware that the British Purchasing Commission had already allocated a serial in the EV block and gave it a new serial HM181. It was decided it and the small number of other aircraft affected should keep their new serials. The rest of the batch received BPC-allocated EV serials. Despite its current colourful but spurious colour scheme, this Argus was actually wartime production for the RAF as FK351, via lend-lease (ex USAAF 42-32155). After the war it was civilianised in the UK as G-AJXA prior to being exported to Australia. It was registered VH-CMB on 4 June 1954, with incorrect cn 362. Formerly based at Tyabb, it is now resident at Gatton, Qld.

Procured by USAAF as UC-61G 42-32155. Served the RAF as FK351 and seen in their WW2 South East Asia-type scheme. Civilianised as G-AJXA before going to Australia in the mid 1950s. The Australian register quotes c/n 362 and other sources quote serial 42-32156. Recent research indicates these are incorrect.
