Painted as an advertisement for a local cookie manufacturer. At the time of the photograph the interior was fitted out with chairs and tables where customers could consume food and drinks purchased in the adjoining cafe.

Delivered to the USAAF as 45-964 then to the RNZAF as NZ3556 in 1945. To NZNAC as ZK-APK in 1947. Leased to Fiji Airways for a few months and returned as ZK-APK in 1967. To other airports after 1968. Stored at Palmerston North from 1981. Preserved at Mangaweka from 1986. Moved to Shannon, NZ for restoration in 2021.

ZK-APK after being "demobbed" from the RNZAF and before entering service with NZ Nnational Airways Corporation. APK still exists 30 years after its final flight having been used as a cafe and tourist attraction. It was last reported at Shannon, NZ, being renovated. This C-47 is in use as a cafe / restaurant near the village of Mangaweka. To promote Cookie Time, a well known local producer of delicious cookies, the Douglas is painted in the colours of "Cookie Air".
