You can hear the roar from here... Australian National Airways' Douglas DC-6 VH-INW 'Kurana' at full takeoff power tucks away her gear, probably at Essendon in the early 1950s. This aircraft was delivered to National Airlines in the USA in 1947, registered N90894. When ANA bought her in 1953, they liked the National colour scheme so much that they adopted it themselves. Kurana was transferred to ANSETT-ANA when the airlines merged in 1957, and was sold back to the USA in 1960. She spent time on the Nicaraguan and El Salvadoran registers and was scrapped at Miami in 1977.

This aircraft was delivered to National Airlines in 1947 as N90894. It was acquired by ANA in 1953 and re-registered VH-INW. In 1957 ANA was bought out by Ansett, becoming ANSETT-ANA.
