Arrived from Cranfield on 9th May 1967 for the BHAM. Following the demise of that museum, the aeroplane was moved to a new site on the western side of the airport as a founder of the Historic Aircraft Museum (Southend). The museum can be seen under construction in the background and opened in May 1972. Clearly seen is the Lancaster nose (from the pilot's windscreen forward) ex-TW911, fitted in the late 40s/early 50s.

Formerly a research testbed with Cranfield University and Napier as G-36-3, G-29-1 and G-APRJ. Arrived from Cranfield on 9th May 1967. Of note is the Lancaster nose (from the pilot's windscreen forward) ex-TW911, fitted in the late 40s/early 50s and the graphics representing the different wing/tail sections that had been mounted on the upper fuselage: Buccaneer, Caravelle (tail & wing), Comet wing, Beverley wing, Britannia wing, Avro 748 wing and Argosy tail.

One of the 13 aircraft assembled on the eastern boundary at Southend for the nascent British Historic Aircraft Museum. One of 200 Lincolns built by Armstrong Whitworth at Coventry (Baginton) during 1945/47. RF342 served as an icing research aircraft - at this time with Napiers.
