After more than 30 years of faithful firefighting service (9,952 flying hours), the CDF transferred this nice little airtanker to the Columbia Airport Authorities on 7 Apr 2006, for display at their airport. Tanker 76 is located on the remote side of the runway, hence this distant and somewhat heat-hazed shot.

Since the start of its civil career in 1959, this B-25 has gone through many civil owners as N3337G, before becoming part of the Castle Air Museum in Jan 1980. It was initially falsely painted as Doolittle Raider B-25B 40-2344 (as "02344"), but in 1993 it was repainted with its actual identity, as seen in this photo.

This Starfighter was first seen on display here in Oct 1986. The serial carried is definitely false (F-104B 57-1312 was delivered to Pakistan), but there has been much debate about this aircraft's actual identity. It is almost certain now that it is in fact 57-1330 c/n 483-5042 (based on a gun bay and old cockpit canopy combination seen only on that aircraft before), but there is also a remote possibility that it is 57-1314 which was last seen stored at Mojave, CA in Jan 1978.

This Chinese-built MiG-17 belongs to the Golden Gate Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, and was temporarily displayed at the Castle Air Museum from 2004 until it was moved to Midland, TX in 2011/2012. It is in Iraqi markings without serial, still marked as N1VC on the rear fuselage (just visible below the wing). Although listed on the USCAR as serial number 2705, it is believed to be c/n 2507 (the former 2507 of the China Air Force).

A former Hawkins & Powers airtanker (ex N52056, Tanker B20) on display at the museum in USAAC markings since 25 Oct 1981. It was initially displayed with code R-38 on the fin, but by 1995 this had been changed to BI-24. This aircraft is widely quoted as a B-18B, but that is wrong. A B-18B has a tail boom and a very distinctive bulbous nose which housed the B-18B's MAD gear. This aircraft has a regular B-18 nose and no tail boom, so it is not a B-18B anymore.

Falsely painted as USAF F-100D 55-2879, this is actually the first production F-100C, USAF 53-1709. This aircraft was officially delivered to the USAF on 29 Oct 1954 but made its first flight on 17 Jan 1955. It was transferred to NACA (later NASA) on 4 Sep 1956, and retired in 1972 (last registration used was N703NA). In Sep 1972 it was donated to the San Jose State University for use as an instructional airframe. It stayed there until moved to the Castle Air Museum in 2003/2004, where it was restored in the fake markings seen here. It was first noted on display as such in Dec 2004.

This C-54 served as US Navy R5D-4R Bu90407 from 1945 until 1971. After storage at MASDC it went through many owners, as N67038 since 1975 and as N51848 since 1978. It was first seen at the museum in Feb 1992. In early 1998 it was restored in these Military Air Transport Service (MATS) markings, with its authentic serial 90407 and "US Navy" and "Pacific Division" titles on the tail. The Military Air Transport Service was formed in 1948 out of the US Navy's Naval Air Transport Service (NATS) and the USAF's Air Transport Command (ATC). It was discontinued in 1966.
