In the Luftwaffenmuseum, a group of Luftwaffe recruits is taught about the bombing of Rotterdam by Heinkel He 111s of KG 54 in May 1940. This machine was on temporary display in the Dutch city in 2015. It is actually a 1951 CASA 2.111, B.2H-109, later to B.2I-117 when re-engined with RR Merlins. Used for the film 'Battle of Britain' in the late 1960s. To the former German air force museum at Uetersen in 1969; moved to Gatow in 1995. The markings are of a KG 55 aircraft.

This aircraft was built in 1944 as a paratroop transport although its precise service history in the Luftwaffe is unclear. At the end of the war it was earmarked for a private collection in the US but came close to being scrapped before the Air Historical Branch selected it for preservation. Some restoration work was carried out at St. Athan where she was allocated the RAF Maintenance Serial 8471M before arriving at the RAF Museum in 1978.

Formerly B.21-57 (or DB.21-37) of the Spanish AF, this C-2.111 flew from Duxford and Bovingdon during the filming of "Battle of Britain" in 1967/68. Seen here being lifted into the HAM compound on Aviation Way at Southend Airport, after the closure it was dismantled and placed into store, finding its way to North Weald. Said to have been sold in the US but remains stored, for some years in Norfolk but moved to Duxford in 2015

This was one of the early He 111 stepped-cockpit variants and was operated by Spain's Condor Legion in the 1938 Civil War. About 60 surviving He 111s joined the Spanish AF after this conflict, with another six during WW2. Of course Spain later went on to licence-build the type as the CASA 2.111 which served till as late as 1975, one example being preserved next to this Heinkel
