I have an affection for TWA at LGA as I made my first US domestic flight from there aboard a short 727 during this trip. Only the seventh DC-9 to appear from the Long Beach line, 51T was sold to Texas International in 5.77 and by Continental to Aerocalifornia as XA-RXG in 6.91; ferried to Mohave for storage 11.06

Undoubtedly one of the highlights of my enthusiast career was a flight on this fabulous beast out of Krakow, including a beat-up and overshoot of runway 25 which I videoed from the glass nose cone. Originally '51' with the Polish AF in 1966 (although SP-LZB also carried), partial LOT colours through the 70s, seen at LHR 12.77 full c/s and reg to Air Sofia as LZ-SFS 2.95. Leased to Sri Lankan and damaged in cross-fire at CMB 7.01. To Dynami 1.07, ATMA UN-11014 5.07 and United Int'l YU-UID 9.07; stored at Fujirah as EX-155 from 2010

It was good to see this Antonov in the UK (support for the Biało-Czerwone Iskry aerobatic team), bringing back memories of a noisy flight in her from KRK to PRG and return in 1991. One of three which were operated by the military in LOT colours for ten years from Mar 1986, this one was otherwise known as 1604 and was delivered to the Polish AF as such in Mar 1973 and reverted to those marks in Feb 1996. Reported wfu 2005 but seen parked at KRK 2008 in the two-tone green and grey camo; registered SP-EKF and noted at KTW 2010, still there 2017 as '1604'

Here's a novelty - surely the only Jet Provost to appear in airline colours! Taken on charge by the RAF in 1960 as XM473, went to No 1 SoTT at Halton as 8974M and later up to Norwich for training use by Air UK apprentices who added the fake marks 'G-TINY' (real reg later used by a Zlin). Moved to a Bedford college and now with an ex-military aircraft dealership near Ipswich

Enjoying a Scandinavian career all her active life, this Friendship was newly delivered to Norway in 3.64 in Braathens colours (memories of the Airfix kit when they changed it from Aer Lingus) and was transferred to Air-Executive during 11.75 in this modified livery. Later repainted in Busy Bee colours, she was sold to Air Nordic Swe in 6.93 as SE-KZD. Wfu at Woensdrecht three years later; dismantled and reassembled as an emergency trainer at Oudehaske (NL) in 4.04

Still showing its RAF Transport Command heritage, this Britannia was taken on charge as XM519 "Capella" in 2.60. One of two bought by Afrek in 1976 for cargo work and wfu early eighties but sold to Aerocaribbean as CU-T121 in 8.84. Broken up for spares by Trans Air Cargo of Zaire at Havana in 11.95, just too soon for me as I was there the next month
