A Strike Fighter Squadron ((VFA) FORTY ONE "Black Aces" Super Hornet seen manoeuvring on board the USS Nimitz (CVN-68). The type saw for its maiden operational deployment while embarked on board the Nimitz. The squadron deployed with sister squadron VFA-14 Tophatter (an F/A-18E is seen in the back ground) within Carrier air Wing ELEVEN to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

FMS serial 92-0406 was once destined for Pakistan as 95-626, but due to embargoes, the dual seat aircraft was placed in storage at AMARC as AA FG0270 on 1 November 1994. In December 1998 it was released from storage and converted to adversary aircraft.

A three-tone grey F-16A, this aircraft was once destined for the Pakistan Air Force (serial 92-735), but due to embargoes against the Asian country, the brand-new aircraft was placed in storage at AMARC as AA FG0010 on 23 June 1993. Late 1998 the US Navy showed interest in stored Pakistani Falcons as a replacement for their worn-out F-16Ns. 92-0404 became 920404 and started a successful career as an adversary aircraft in the States.

Former Swiss Air Force F-5E J-3053 is now serving the US Navy as an adversary aircraft and designated F-5N. This two-tone brown green Tiger II was repainted - two years after this picture was taken - and received the famous black MiG-28 colour scheme.

The Iraqi air Force used the 162nd Fighter Wing for F-16 conversion training. This 1611 is seen during a sunset take-off from Tucson.

Hided in a hangar, this Pilatus PC-7, one of two in the Chadian Air Force inventory. In 2008, the aircraft was not airworthy as spare parts were needed to bring it back in the air. The aircraft was once US registered as N976DM but sold to Chad as TT-AAX by April 2008. Later in 2008, it was reregistered to TT-QAJ. Notable are the hardpoints underneath the wings. These can be used for fueltanks, but also for rocketpods or iron bombs. As Chad used weapons with the PC-7s, Pilatus stopped any support.

The Iraqi air Force used the 162nd Fighter Wing for F-16 conversion training. Iraq bought 36 F-16Cs, of which 28 F-16Cs eight F-16Ds. The Vipers are often designated IQ, that's the variant Iraq bought. These are Block 52s, but the many avionics and systems of these Blocks are downgraded. The IQs can not operate (yet) with sophisticated weapons, like precision guided weapons, that are normally used with the Block numbers.

It is reported that this PC-9, the sole one in Chadian inventory, was destined for the Royal Thai Air Force, but it was never delivered. After a storage period, and known as HB-HRH, it was delivered to Chad on 22 August 2006.

This 1972 built, US registered (Air-Serv International, Warrenton, VA) Twin Otter served the UNHCR in Chad. The Twotter was once registered VP-FAQ and painted in an all red color scheme while serving the British Antarctic Survey. It also flew in Norway as LN-FKB. But since 1988 it was registered to Air Serve and flew quite along time through the African continent. In 2013 it returned to USA and was eventually sold to a Mexican (XT-UTK) operator but is now back to its birthing-grounds, Canada as C-FZDQ flying out of Calgery.

Late August 2008, this Mi-8 was new to the inventory of the United Nations aviation fleet at Abeche and still needed an UNO-inventory number. The helicopter was just transferred from UN-operations over Democratic Republic Congo (DRC) to Chad. On the 26 August 2008 it was making a test flight near Abeche airport in eastern Chad. Former number UNO-896 painted out.

This 1985 built Mi-8T was deployed by its Moldavian owner Ayr Aviation to Chad. The company supported the European Union mission in Chad and the Central African Republic (CAR), EUFOR Chad/CAR, in logistical flights.

This Aviation Légère de l'Armée de Terre (French Army Aviation) Gazelle of 4 RHFS was deployed from homebase Pau/Pyrénées as part of ALAT Det Tchad to Abeche in the far eastern part of Chad. Puma's and Gazelle's supported from this location the European Union Force (EUFOR) mission over Chad/CAR
