Team Iskra

Photographed in Polish AF colours prior to the Commemorative Air Force Airshow 2011.

Freshly re-painted in an authentic camouflage scheme to represent 315 squadron 'City of Deblin' Air Academy and looking magnificent at this very friendly, interesting museum.

The 'R' version of the Iskra is two-seat, reconnaissance aircraft, equipped with the surveillance radar, RDS-81. Six aircraft were converted in 1991 and this example is on display at the wonderful Polish Aviation Museum.

This Iskra was acquired ex the Polish Air Force and brought to Australia in 1993. After storage in Canberra, it arrived at Essendon in April 1996 and has been stored unassembled ever since, reputedly as a spares source. Note the spare engines alongside.

This is one of ten aircraft on open-air display at the Polish Armed Forces Museum close to the centre of Warsaw

This Iskra was built in 1974 and withdrawn from military service in 2006. I understand that it flew for the first time in over ten years on 19 October 2014, and it joined the warbird circuit in a nice original state including the blind-flying hood. This aircraft carries the logo of the Fundacja Biało-Czerwone Skrzydła (White-Red Wings Foundation) on the fuselage.

This is the former Poland Air Force 317. The TS-11 is not a particularly fast jet, but it can still fly circles around any Porsche. This aircraft preserved in Deurne, Netherlands - not to be confused with Antwerp's airport.
