Delivered as as AD-5N to the USN in 1954, this Skyraider operated with various Navy and Marines units, ending up with the Naval Weapons Center at China Lake. During testing at Eglin, maintenance personnel determined it had been overstressed and was no longer safe to fly. Since all nine A-1s at Hurlburt Field had been given to the South Vietnamese Air Force, this one was allocated for display at Hurlburt. Dropped from the Navy inventory in 1971, it was installed in the Air Park in 1972, painted in Vietnam-style camo as per my 1979 photo here

One of the six Hercules displayed in the Memorial Park at Hurlburt Field is this MC-130E Combat Talon I, the type known by 919th SOW airmen as "Wild Thing". It served in Vietnam suffering combat damage and in the first mission flown using night vision goggles in 1979. One of a few fitted with Skyhook recovery gear. Participating in the failed 1980 attempt to rescue American hostages from the US Embassy in Iran, it also transported captured Panamanian dictator Manuel Noreiga in 1989 during Operation Just Cause and was flown in for preservation in 2010

One of some six Hercules on display here, initially accepted as a C-130A by the Air Force in February 1957. In mid-1970 it was converted to AC-130A gunship configuration and served in Vietnam with the 16th SOS named "Ultimate End", also being involved in the rescue of the SS Mayaguez and surviving combat damage on several occasions. Reassigned to the 919th SOW at Duke Field, FL in 1975, it was retired from active service in October 1994, flying the short distance from Duke to Hurlburt Field for preservation in the Air Park

Assigned to the 346th TCS, Pope AFB, NC until October 1964 as a C-123B, this aircraft was then flown to Tan Son Nhut AB, Vietnam serving until 1967 when returned to Eglin AFB for modification to the K-model. It was deployed back to Vietnam operating from Phan Rang AB until March 1972 when reassigned to the Air Force Reserve at Lockborne AFB, OH. In October 1981 the aircraft was installed in the Air Park, representing one of the Providers used to disperse the defoliant Agent Orange, although it never flew in that configuration

Displayed from 1972 in Vietnam-style camouflage as a 1st SOW aircraft, with the incorrect '51' prefix applied. The unit badge with the legend "Any Time Any Place" was later removed when the aircraft was placed back on its undercarriage for display, along with 'TC' tail code added. Repainted in 2005 to basic USN-style grey to commemorate a Medal of Honour-winning mission in 1968, as per my 2024 photo

Accepted by the USAF in August 1966 as an HC-130P, seeing operations in Southeast Asia and throughout the Pacific for much of its career. In 1993, the 9th SOS received the aircraft at Eglin AFB, but 65-0994 returned to Asia in 1995 when assigned to the 17th SOS at Kadena, Japan. Redesgnated as an MC-130P 'Combat Shasdow' after mods in 1996, it was back with the 9th SOS in 2009 and participated in the closing stages of Operation Iraqi Freedom. From 2010 to 2012, it deployed to Afghanistan multiple times as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Towed into the Memorial Park in August 2015

Constructed as an A-26C-35-DT at Tulsa and joining the USAAF as 44-35483, this Invader was modified to TB-26C in 1948. Damaged in a landing accident in 1948, it was eventually converted to a B-26K by On Mark Engineering at Van Nuys in 1966 for the 1st SOW at Eglin AFB, FL with new serial 64-17666. On deployment to Thailand in 1968, it had to be re-designated as an A-26A to overcome local restrictions on bombers operating from that country. In 1971 it became the first of many aircraft to be displayed at the Hurlburt gate, mounted on a plinth as seen in my 1979 image here

Constructed as a B-25J-10-NC by North American at Kansas City, like many of the type this Mitchell was modified to TB-25N around 1952, then underwent conversion to an air tanker with a 1,000 gallon tank in 1959 having been civilised as N5256V. Agricultural spay bars were fitted in 1962 and in August 1980 it made it final flight to Beale AFB, CA, eventually being roaded to the Air Commando Park at Hurlburt in 1995 in dismantled condition

From delivery to the USAF in 1954 as a C-119G, this Boxcar performed troop carrier assignments in both active and reserve units in Japan, Oregon, Texas and Rhode Island. After conversion to C-119L it entered MASDC storage in 1975 and was registered N37484 by Dross Metals in 1980 before being sold on for agricultural spraying operations but then around 1985 began runs with contraband TV sets from Texas to Mexico - on the sixth such flight, it was damaged after hitting a cactus on landing. After storage at Laredo, donated to the Air Commando Park in 1987 and painted as an AC-119G 'Shadow'

Painted to represent an AC-47 'Spooky', in actuality the 37th Troop Carrier Squadron flew this Skytrain in WWII and airdropped 82nd Airborne Division soldiers during the parachute assaults of the Normandy invasion and also in Operation Market Garden. It served in another famous campaign post-war when it was part of the Berlin Airlift. Then taken on charge by the Turk Hava Kuvvetleri, it returned to the US in 1954 and joined the Indiana ANG, later transferred to the Ohio ANG. By 1979 it was on display here at Hurlburt in camouflage, as per my photo here for comparison

The first of what would become many aircraft placed preserved at the Hurlburt gate was unveiled in 1971. Initially mounted on a plinth, this Invader which had been converted from an A-26C to B-26K in 1965 was later displayed on its own landing gear and underwent various changes to its markings, ending up as shown in my December 2024 photo
