47 Squadron Beverley C.1 based at RAF Abingdon displayed at Burtonwood's 1956 Armed Forces Day. It wears the initial all metallic scheme with '47' in the red diamond on its fin. Delivered in early 1956. Crashed near El Adem Libya 13 April 1963.

Ordered as a multi-engine pilot trainer to replace the Varsity, the relationship between the Jetstream and the RAF was rather troubled. This airframe was built in 1970 but didn't enter service until Mar. 77. Shortly after her replacement by the Beech 200 in March '04 she undertook her final flight to Cosford and into retirement.

Gazelle HT2 coded 'D' of the Central Flying School based at RAF Shawbury. Exhibited at the Queens Silver Jubilee air show at RAF Finningley.

First flown in 2.64 and operated by 111 Sqn until transferred to 5 Sqn a couple of months after this shot. Later with 11 Sqn and the LTF before going back to 5 Sqn which used XP741, by then in camouflage, as a display aircraft in 1987. To Manston fire school as 8939M in 9.87 with 3164 hours recorded and destroyed 1995

On loan from the RAF Museum at Cosford where she was displayed in a yellow colour scheme after use on photo chase work by A&AEE (see my 1983 shot at Cosford). Now restored to original 64 Sqdn colours and a highly appropriate exhibit at the Midland Air Museum as built here at Baginton by Armstrong Whitworth, like the Argosy from which this shot was taken

Lightning F.3 of 23 Squadron based at RAF Leuchars, Fife, Scotland. Displayed at a Royal Observer Corps open day at Valley.

This Lightning F.3 was built by EE/BAC at their Warton factory in May 1963. It served with many RAF Fighter Command Squadrons including No. 29 based at RAF Wattisham before it was retired in September 1987 and scrapped.

Blackpool-built Hunter F.4 of 92 Squadron, RAF Linton-on-Ouse, Yorkshire. Displayed at the 1956 USAF Armed Forces Day at RAF Burtonwood, Lancashire.
