The Su-24MR (MR for Modifikatsirovanyy Razvedchik) is designed for reconnaissance and is able to carry the BKR-1 airborne reconnaissance complex (Bortovim Kompleksom Razvedki). The recce camera's are built-in just behind the nose wheel doors. Here 30 white is seen heading to runway 21 of Welzow. The 11.ORAP left the base on 15 June 1993. It was retrived to Marinovka, west of Volgograd (the former Stalingrad) in the Russian North Caucasus Military District.

Parked on the military side of Brussel Int'l AP, Melsbroek, in early 1990. The fine looking Tuup was a very striking visitor. It was assigned to the 223rd Flight Unit. It started its life with the with the Soviet Air Force as Tu-134AK CCCP-65680, with manufacterer date 2 Dec 1976. The Tu-134 is equipped with a "Karpaty-S" HF communications suite (characterised by the fat dorsal fairing running all the way to the fin), hence the "AK" designation. It became 680 black on 22 Feb 1989. To Russian Air Force on 9 Apr 1992. Modified to Tu-134A-3 and was stripped of the Karpaty-S fairing. Reserialled to RA-65680, last reported in Nov 2019.

ex EK-11986 with fake bort 12 red, this An-12 is preserved in the magnificent Museum of Aviation Technology. It is seen here at Borovaya but has since moved with the museum to Lipki airfield.

In the Savetski District, north of the city centre of Minsk, the Belarusian capital, this MiG-17 can be found in a housing estate.

The town of Luninets in Southern Belarus is adjacent to the air base with the same name, which still houses Belarusian Air Defence Troops. This MiG-17 is on display as a monument for Hero of the Soviet Union art. Lieutenant N. Davydov, who deceased on duty in 1949. The former bort worn by the MiG-17 is 104 red.

Zarechcha is a small town east of Byaroza, Belarus. The town has a radar-equipped MiG-17 on display as a monument for fallen air crews.

The air base of Byaroza (Osovets) in today's Belarus was home of the 927 istrebitelnyy aviatsionnyy polk (927 iap) which deployed from here to Afghanistan in 1983-1984 with the MiG-21. The regiment and its MiG-29s were transferred to Belarusian control when the Soviet-Union broke-up in 1992. In town, this MiG-21S is preserved to commemorate the unit's deployment to Afghanistan. Ex bort 46 red.

Many relics from the Soviet era can be found in Belarus, where they are still cherished. One of the rarer types of aircraft is the Su-7U. This one with bort 01 red is seen here wearing olive colours and is preserved in a small green park in the town of Malech, Brest Oblast, Southwestern Belarus.

Ex 92 blue, this MiG-15UTI is mounted in spectacular fashion overlooking the river Dnipro near the town of Rechytsa in Southeastern Belarus.

ex 46 red, ex 01 blue, this Su-7BKL can be found on display in the housing area of this Belarusian airbase, currently the home of the air force Su-25 and Yak-130 fleets.

The Yakovlev Yak-3 was the aircraft which equipped the famous French "Normandie-Niemen" regiment on the Eastern Front during WW2. The aircraft seen here at the time the picture was taken shows markings of Lieutenant Robert Marchi's (4 victories ). This aircraft arrived at Le Bourget on June 20, 1945 as n° 18 and returned to the Museum in 1947and was repainted with n°4 in 1976.

This crudely restored MiG-15UTI with a red star can be found in the village of Lukomer, Brest Oblast, Belarus, with a well-protected canopy!

Several aircraft are preserved in the town of Pruzhany in Belarus. This crudely restored MiG-17 with fake bort 18 red (ex 10 red, ex 10 white) can be found near the junction of Krasnoarmeyskaya and Pushkina streets.

A few rare Su-9s can be found on display in Eastern Belarus. Although over one thousand of the type were built, not many survive. In the town of Klimavichy, this example can be found with bort 35 red.

The town of Mscislaw in Eastern Belarus has a long history, dating back to 1136, the year of the foundation of the town. This MiG-17 is of a more recent date, yet used to honour the town's past. Note how the angle of the Red Star is horizontally aligned.

Former Belarusian air force Yak-28PP on display in the magnificent Museum of Aviation Technology in Minsk. This Brewer-E subtype was retired around the desintegration of the Soviet Union.

An Aviation Walk of Fame was formed at Victory Square in Vityebsk in Northeastern Belarus. One of a number of aviation exhibits present is this crudely restored MiG-15bis with bort 27 green. It was first reported here in June 2010.
