I was so busy trying to frame and level the shot properly that I didn't notice the reflection on the tarmac until the print had been developed.

Originally powered by four piston engines, the Herald was redesigned with two Dart turboprops but surpassed by the very similar Fokker F.27. Air UK operated both types and the two now sit next to each other here at the City of Norwich Aviation Museum.

Delivered new to Malaysian in 08.63. G-BLGW from 03.78 until withdrawn by Air UK in 05.94 and scrapped.

Acquired by Air Anglia in 5.78 ex 9M-AOJ of MSA and named by them "Phil", perhaps inspired by the Fokker factory allocation PH-FIL when new in 1966 and when traded back in 10.71. One of a number to wear these interim colours after the Air UK merger of 1.80 but repainted into both full colour schemes used by the airline. Scrapped at Norwich 12.96 after a couple of years in store

Rare capture in hybrid Pacific Southwest/Air UK colours briefly worn for three months from 12.88. This 146 was initially PSA 'Smiliner' N368PS in 6.87 but returned to BAe only a year later as N192US after US Air merger. Leased to Thai (HS-TBQ) summer 1989; back to the States in 1990, with Business Express for two years from mid-92 and leased by ASA in 10.95 (N812AS). In 5.98 she joined Aer Lingus as EI-CSL, going on to CityJet in 10.00 and then SA's Airlink as ZS-PUZ in 7.07, to LZ-DAL 5.12 and Neptune Aviation as N478NA in 11.16

Herald heaven at Jersey, back in the days of screaming Darts. Seen here in the company of G-BEYJ, G-ATDS and G-BFRK, G-APWH was used by the Norwich airport fire service for practice but was consumed by the end of 2003

In the City of Norwich Aviation Museum, this is an aircraft I have seen many times since the late 1960s operating with a variety of airlines.
