Flying as 'PECOS' during a Red Flag period mid-July 1993

The wedge-shaped vertical stabilizer necessary for directional stability, upper speed brakes and a small tail-skid in retracted position is visible on the first X-15 on display at NASM. Just three of these hypersonic aircraft were built, and only 12 pilots flew them including Neil Armstrong for a total of 199 flights from 1959-68. The X-15 set the world's unofficial speed record of Mach 6.70 with Flight No. 2-53-97, and an altitude record of 354,200 ft. with Flight No. 3-22-36. The second X-15 is displayed at NMUSAF. The third X-15 was lost on 15 Nov 1967 on Flight 3-65-97 in a fatal accident.

Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ in 1995. Scrapped in 2008.

Made 138 flights (829.4 hours) as an offensive and defensive systems testbed before the B-1A program was cancelled in 1977. To Lowry AFB as as GB-1A ground trainer then preserved at the Wings Over the Rockies Aviation and Space Museum at the former Lowry AFB, Denver, CO from 1989.

Delivered in 1963. To the Air Force Systems Command (AFSC) and converted to an NF-4C test aircraft in 1966. Preserved at Tyndall AFB, FL from 1991.

Operating from Hato for counterdrugs missions in July 2001, was E-3B 75-0558 seen parked here on the general aviation apron.
